Hello!

Welcome! I’m Anita and I’m one of the Counsellors and Neurofeedback Practitioners here at Pure Soul Wellness. All the tools, modalities and frameworks we will be using have been tested by yours truly at points in time when I was stuck, burnt out, uninspired or all the above. They’ve worked for me, and I’ve witnessed them work for so many others, so I am optimistic they will work for you too! I invite you to check out some more information about me below and if my journey resonates with you, I welcome you to come in for a chat and see what we can do for you too.

My Story

Growing up in Western Sydney as a first born child to immigrant parents, I’m still working hard on peeling away and examining layers of intergenerational beliefs and stories to uncover who I authentically am. Ingrained in me are values of kindness, compassion, humour, hard work and success (e.g. scholarship for my Bachelor’s degree and a distinction average for my Master of Psychotherapy & Counselling + Dean’s Merit List 2021). But it took me until the fifth year of my

five year Bachelor of Finance/Bachelor of International Studies to realise that some of these values weren’t mine, and that I actually did not want to sit behind a desk for 80 hours a week, raise children and work until I retire to feel alive.

Cue multiple crisis points and undergoing extensive yoga teacher training (yes, I was lured in by all the fantastic reels on social media of travelling yogis in South East Asia). During this time, I taught multiple workshops, co-facilitated a retreat, volunteered for a Yoga for Endometriosis filming (where I met my yoga mentor), wrote for a magazine, was featured in a Sydney Morning Herald interview on the realities of being a yoga teacher and created my own style of Yin Yoga and Thai Massage. Despite all that fulfilling work, I realised that while I had all the tools of mindfulness and yoga, there was still something lacking within me.

Over the course of the pandemic and a teaser Diploma of Counselling, I began to do deeper inner work through traditional talk therapy. It really helped me feel more comfortable in my skin. I felt more secure in myself, my purpose and my voice. And over time, I realised I needed more balance between my mind and my body, the side of me that excelled in thinking and the side of me that excelled in savasana to realise that somatic psychotherapy was a truer fit for who I am and who I would like to serve. I work with people across the life span including those who are neurodiverse. I’ve worked with children & adult NDIS participants. I work with stress, anxiety, life transitions, emotional challenges, trauma, physical injuries & conditions, cross-cultural identity issues and addictions.

If you’d like to learn more about the different styles of counselling I offer, click here, or to simply connect with me, click the link below—I’d love to hear from you.

I look forward to meeting you soon!

Anita.
